aswathma

Ashwathama is a film that needs to click at any cost as Naga Shourya is going through a dull phase. The film has released today and let’s see whether it lives up to all the hype or not.

Story:

Gana(Naga Shourya) returns to India for his sister’s engagement after working in the US. Right when the function is going to happen, his sister attempts to kill herself. Gana saves her and shockingly finds out that his sister is pregnant and the father to her child is unknown. A helpless Shourya starts investigating this case and finally nabs the culprit. How does he do all this forms the story.

Plus Points:

Naga Shourya makes a terrific transformation from a lover boy to an action hero. His screen presence, body language, and performance in fights and emotional scenes is very good. He looks macho in an action avatar and proves that he can carry an entire action film on his shoulders. All his scenes with his sister are pretty good.

Mehreen does not have much to do but plays a good supporting role. The action episodes and interval bang is the biggest highlight of the film and sets up the second half perfectly. Prince was effective in his small role and so were other cast of the film.

The first half adrenaline pumping moments and has been handled quite well in the first half. One of the biggest highlights of the film is the Bengali actor Jisshu Sen Gupta. He is on another level and brings a scary effect to the proceedings. The way he is brought into the film and the manner in which Jisshu performs is very good.

Special mention to the action choreography which is spot on and has been executed well. BGM by Ghibran is top notch and elevates the proceedings quite well. The family emotions are decent.

Minus Points:

So much tension is created in the first half about who is behind all the crime and the twist is revealed right after the interval. Things could have been prolonged a bit to keep the suspense intact. Because of this, the rest of the film becomes predictable.

Also, after facing so much tension to find the villain in the first half, the hero finds him with just a small clue in the last fifteen minutes which looks a bit over the top.

The second half has good moments of the villain but the hero-villain face off is just hurried up on the audience and things are ended in a jiffy. Some more investigation scenes and action episodes would have matters even special.

Technical Aspects:

Music by Sri Charan is just okay as some hit songs could have made matters better. The camera work is quite impressive as Vizag, action sequences and investigation scenes have been showcased quite well.

Dialogues are good and so was the production design. The film has a rich feel as the makers have not compromised on the making. Story by Naga Shourya is pretty good as he has kept the logics intact and his script has a good emotional angle.

Coming to the director Ramana Teja, he makes a good debut and has made the film on a sensible note. The good part is that he did not deviate with the storyline much. If he had handled the film well in the second half with crisp narration, things could have been quite impressive.

Verdict:

On the whole, Ashwathama is an emotional thriller with a riveting first half. Naga Shourya leads from the front and is superb in his action avatar. But the film bogs down in the second half with predictable scenes and hurried up climax. However, that does not mean the film becomes dull. It has some well packaged thrills and ends up as a decent watch this weekend.

After launching Sudheer Babu’s look yesterday, the makers of Nani’s much-awaited silver jubilee film, V, unveiled his first look this morning. The poster showcases Nani in a bearded avatar, with a twirling moustache adding to his attitude. The bloodstained scissors in Nani’s hands makes the poster intriguing on the whole.

By now, it’s well known that Nani will be seen in a negative role in V. He has teamed up with director Mohanakrishna Indraganti, who had also directed Nani’s debut film, Ashta Chamma. The film is touted as an action thriller and expectations are quite high on this project.

RRR.jpeg

Director SS Rajamouli's upcoming flick RRR has been the talk of the town for several weeks now. At a press meet, which was held today in Hyderabad, the filmmaker along with actors Jr NTR, Ram Charan and producer DVV Danayya shared tidbits about the film.

Producer DVV Danayya, in an earlier interview, disclosed that the film's budget was Rs 300 crore. However, at the press meet, Danayya shared details about the film's budget. He said that the budget ranges from Rs 350 to Rs 400 crore. It is indeed a staggering amount for RRR, which is set in the pre-Independence era in the 1920s.

RRR is a fictitious story on two Telugu freedom fighters Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem. Rajamouli said, "RRR will be a fictitious tale about 2 real-life heroes, set in pre-independence times. We are mounting the film on a very big scale. There's a lot of research involved over the past 2 years."

The film, which is a one-part story, will grace the screens worldwide on July 30, 2020, in 10 Indian languages. Rajamouli assured that the audience will not see Jr NTR and Ram Charan on screen.

"We are confident that the audience and fans will forget that it's NTR and Ram Charan onscreen after their intro scenes and 15 mins into the film. They'll only see their characters. Both characters are powerful and well-balanced," said Rajamouli.

While Alia Bhatt is paired opposite Ram Charan, foreign actress Daisy Edgar Jones will be romancing Jr NTR. The film also has Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn and Samuthirakani playing crucial roles.

The huge success of Baahubali 2 has buoyed filmmakers' interest in period dramas. Now, three producers Allu Arvind, Namit Malhotra and Madhu Mantena are coming together to make a film on Ramayana, reports Mumbai Mirror.

Allu Arvind is quoted saying, "It's a huge responsibility, but the Ramayana needs to be told on the big screen in the most magnificent way possible. We are committed to delivering a spectacular extravaganza."They have been working on the script for a year, says a source.

Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli's epic Baahubali: The Conclusion continues to smash records left, right and centre at the ticket windows. The Hindi version of the movie managed to rake in above Rs 80 crore in its second weekend, which is outstanding.

The Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan and Sathyaraj starrer film has already become the biggest All Time Blockbuster as it's the only Indian film to have crossed Rs 1000 crore worldwide. Needless to say, the film's success is sure to inspire many more filmmakers to re-visit their roots and give a new direction to their vision as well.
